The African Individual Men's Chess Championship, which was held in Cairo over nine days with wide participation from various African countries, concluded today, Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

The tournament witnessed strong competitions over nine rounds of the Swiss system, characterized by high technical performance, as players competed to achieve the best results and qualify for the 2025 World Chess Cup.

The final results resulted in GM Bilal Belhassen from Algeria winning the first place and the championship trophy with seven points out of nine, second place went to GM Bassem Amin from Egypt with seven points, and third place went to GM  Ahmed Adly with seven points as well.

The tournament also produced several champions who were up to the challenge, including IM Hamed Wafa (Egypt), FM Marco Fadi (Egypt), and FM David George (Egypt) and so many other champions who enriched the tournament.

The participants expressed their satisfaction with the good organizing and hosting, stressing that this year's tournament was one of the most successful editions in terms of technical and administrative level.
